VI.PublicInput Policy#1550 -PublicInputwillprovideanopportunityforanyBoardMember,administrator,staffmember,studentor patrontoraiseissuesofinterest.TheBoardwillreceivesuchinp utwithoutcomment,excepttoaskgermanequestions ofthosespeaking.Commentsshouldbelimitedto3minutes.TheBoardwilltakenoactionrelativetoanyitems duringthemeeting,butmaydirecttheSuperintendenttoconsidersuchanitematasubsequentmeeting. CarolineWalline –concernedparentonHHSDebate travel fees statingthattheincreasedexpenseswillmakeitfinancially prohibitiveforsomestudentstocompete. VII.OldBusiness ConstructionFinancialUpdate –AprilBurton presentedinformationontheconstructionprojects statingthattheyhave beencompletedandwill continuetopurchasetechnologyitemsasapprovedinthebond. VIII.NewBusiness F.TripRequest HHSDebate –CanyonCountryHSDebateBoise,ID.November19&20,2010 HHSDebate –AltaHighSchool,AltaUT.December3-5,2010 HHSDebate –ISU,Pocatello,ID.January7&8,2011 HHSDebate –EagleHighSchool,Eagle,ID.January21 –23,2011 HHSDebate –CanyonRidgeHighSchool,TwinFalls,ID.Mar ch10 –12,2011 HHSDebate –Couerd’Alene,ID.April14 –16,2011 AmyWalker,HHSDebateCoach –presentedinformationthatwassubmittedonSeptember28requestingtravel. NotifiedMondaybythedistrictthatwewouldhavetopayforthetravelbeyondthe175milesandwearetraveling onFriday.IreceivedverbalconfirmationinthemiddleofOctobertellingmethatthebussingisthesameaslast yearandthingswereapproved.MyconcernisifIknewearlier,Iwouldhaveaskedthestudentstoprep areforthe extracost.SchedulesubmittedthroughDecemberwiththreetripsincludingthisFriday,withbusingfordistrictand statethatwehavenotbudgetedbeyondthe175miles. BoardConcern:weareina$4millionshortfallandconcernedaboutfundingtrips,apologizingforthe miscommunicationbutweneedtotreateveryonealike.Wewillfundthefirstthreetripsgivingyoutheopportunityto planfortherestofthetrips.Alsoinformingyouthattherewillbelessmoneyfornationals -allthe othershavetopaya feebeyondthe175milerange. ConnorDunlhom –onthe BHSDebate teamanditisa greatexperience.Ithinkitwouldbenefitinthelongrunifwe wouldhavegottenthe bussing informationquickergivenustimetoraisethe extra money. TonyaStocking –appreciatetheHHSDebateandhaving two debaters’thisyear –comingupwithextramoneywould beveryhard.Ifweknewwecouldhaveworkedharder. ChairmanLordsstatesthatthebussingis vague and theschool madeplans and weshouldauthorizethe request and beonnotethatthisisitandnationals willhavelessmoney. MOTION:CraigLordsmadethemotiontoauthorizethetrips forBHSandHHS,secondedbyWendyHorman. Allinfavor,oneapposed.Motionpassesbya3-1vote. SuperintendentShackettwillconveythemessagethattriprequestshouldn’tcometotheBoarddaysbeforeorafterthe trip. IX.Committee,CurriculumandAdministrativeReports 1.PoliciesforInitialConsideration –Dr.Robertspresented 3policies and2proceduresforBoardreviewonly.
