Conduct on School Property
CONDUCT ON SCHOOL PROPERTY
Purpose
The Board of Trustees expects mutual respect, civility, and orderly conduct from all
individuals on school property or at school-sponsored activities. The purpose of this
policy is to maintain a safe, secure, and effective educational environment.
Applicability
This policy applies to all persons, including but not limited to students, employees,
parents/guardians, volunteers, visitors, contractors, and members of the public while on
school property or at any school-sponsored activity, regardless of location.
Guide Lines
1. No person on school property or at a school event shall:
a. Injure or threaten, harass or intimidate a staff member, a school board member,
sports official or coach, or any other person;
b. Damage or threaten to damage another’s property;
c. Damage or deface District property;
d. Violate any Idaho law or town or county ordinance;
e. Smoke or otherwise use tobacco products;
f. Consume, possess, distribute, or be under the influence of alcoholic beverages
or illegal drugs;
g. Possess dangerous devices or weapons;
h. Impede, delay, disrupt, or otherwise interfere with the orderly conduct of the
District’s educational program or any other activity or function;
i. Use cellular phones in a disruptive manner;
j. Enter upon any portion of the school premises at any time for purposes other
than those that are lawful and authorized by the Board;
k. Operate a motor vehicle:
1) in a risky manner or
2) in violation of an authorized District employee’s directive;

l. Violate an authorized District employee’s directive; or
m. Violate other District policies or regulations.
2. As circumstances warrant, appropriate action will be taken by the District’s staff
and/or administrators.
a. Any staff member observing a parent/guardian or other person violating the
provisions of this policy shall immediately notify the building principal/designee.
b. The principal/designee will request that the person act civilly or otherwise refrain
from the prohibited conduct.
c. If the person persists with uncivil or prohibited behavior, the principal/designee
shall request that the person immediately leave school property.
d. The principal/designee shall contact law enforcement, if appropriate.
DEFINITIONS
Facility/Facilities: includes any school, building, structure, room, laboratory,
administrative unit, open space, or other physical improvement or natural feature of a
school campus or of other property under the administrative control of the Bonneville
Joint School District No. 93 Board of Trustees.
School Property: Includes but is not limited to buildings, facilities, and grounds on the
school campus, school buses, school bus stops, school parking areas, and any facility
being used for a school function.
