MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING between
Foster Grandparents of SE Idaho

The terms and conditions herein are effective during the normal 2017 -2019 school year.
Foster Grandparents of SE Idaho extends equal opportunity to all individuals interested in
volunteering and currently volunteering as a foster grandparent without regard for race, religion,
color, sex, national origin, age, disability, handicaps or veteran status.
A. FOSTER GRANDPARENTS OF SE IDAHO mill:
1) Recruit, interview, orient and refer grandparent volunteers to the volunteer station and /or
retain current volunteers for as long as possible. Each grandparent will serve a minimum of
15 hours each week.
2) Foster Grandparent volunteers may be removed from the volunteer station for the following
reasons: [a] Request for removal or transfer by volunteer station, [b] Request for transfer
from the volunteer station by the grandparent volunteer, [c] Failure of the volunteer station
to comply with the Corporation for National and Community Service guidelines.
3) Conduct background checks on new grandparent volunteers.
4) Furnish adequate accident and liability insurance coverage.
5) Provide handouts and information to the grandparent volunteers in monthly in- service
trainings.
6) Recognize and celebrate the service of the grandparent volunteers.
7) Provide reimbursement for the travel of up to thirteen (13) Foster Grandparent volunteers,
paid directly to them.
8) Provide stipend for up to thirteen (13) Foster Grandparent. volunteers, paid directly to them.
9} Retain full responsibility for the management and fiscal operations of Foster Grandparents
of South East Idaho.
10) Handle any volunteer grievances that may arise.
11) Provide the volunteer station with a Volunteer Station Handbook, as well as any forms
needing completion by volunteer station staff throughout the year.
B. IDA140-EALl."CHOOL DISTRICT will:
x) Assure adequate health and safety provisions for the protection of the grandparent
volunteer(s). This includes providing each volunteer with appropriate seating i.e. an adult -
size chair versus a child -size chair.
2) Provide reasonable accommodation to grandparent volunteer (s) with disabilities, unless to
do so would cause undue hardship. This is in compliance with the requirements of the
Rehabilitation act 1973•
3) Identify and select children that will benefit the greatest from the service of the grandparent
volunteer(s).
4} Provide service space for the grandparent volunteer(s).
5) Furnish one meal a day to each grandparent volunteer, free of charge. A
grandparent may choose not to eat meals provided by the station.
6) Be responsible for the day -to -day supervision of each grandparent volunteer and ensure that
volunteers are not given tasks that are contrary to their role. AT NO TIME WILL
VOLUNTEERS BE LEFT ALONE WITH A CHILD OR CHILDREN OR BE PLACED IN A
SUPERVISORY ROLE.
7) include grandparent volunteer(s), whenever possible, in staff meetings and training
sessions.
8) Collect, validate and submit grandparent volunteer time sheets) by3rd day of each
month.
9) Collect, validate and submit an in -kind report (tracking of meals) by the 3rd day of each
month.
xo) Report any accident to the Foster Grandparent Program and assist the grandparent
volunteer in. completing an Accident Report. (An Accident Report form can be located in the
Station Handbook or obtained from the Foster Grandparent Program office.)
x1) Complete and validate any paperwork that is requested by the Foster Grandparent Program
office in a timely manner as certain paperwork is a federal requirement.
C. Volunteer stations covered by this Memorandum include: Summit Hills and all other
elementary schools within, the district that might receive a Foster Grandparent volunteer during
the current school year.
