INFORMAL REVIEW
The following events and circumstances create a right allowing specified employees to
request an Informal Review of the Board’s decision to not reemploy or reissue an
employment contract:
Non-reemployment of Category 3 Contract teachers;
An administrative employee reassignment;
Non-reissuance of Supplemental Extra-Duty Contracts; and
Any other circumstance specified in Idaho law creating a right to request an
informal review.
The parameters for the Informal Review will be determined by the Board.
Guidelines
Written Request
1. A request for an Informal Review must be in writing and include a statement
explaining the reasoning for disagreement with the Board’s decision.
2. The statement must not exceed to two (2) pages.
DEFINITIONS:
Category 3 Certificated Employees: Certified staff hired in the third year of continuous
employment by the same school district
Certified Staff: includes all certificated staff except principals and District
administrators.
Renewable Contract Certificated Employees: Certificated staff completing their third
full year of continuous employment with the same school district and having been
evaluated for a renewable contract, shall, upon having been offered a contract for the
next ensuing year, giving notice of acceptance of renewal, and upon signing a contract
for the fourth full year, shall be placed on a renewable contract status.
Renewable Contract Certificated Employees shall have the right to automatic renewal of
contract by giving notice in writing of acceptance of renewal.
