I. Call to Order Chairman Paul Jenkins called the meeting to order at 10:03 a.m. II. Roll Call Amy Landers present Chad Dance present Greg Calder present Scott Lynch present Paul Jenkins present III. Executive Session A. Chairman Jenkins stated that the Board will enter into Executive Session pursuant to Idaho Code Section 74-206(1)(b)To consider the evaluation, dismissal or disciplining of, or to hear complaints or charges brought against, a public officer, employee, staff member or individual agent, or public school student. The Executive Session will be closed to the public as permitted by law. MOTION: Amy Landers moved to enter into executive session for the reason stated. Chad Dance seconded. The roll call vote was: IV. Roll Call Vote Amy Landers yes Chad Dance yes Greg Calder yes Scott Lynch yes Paul Jenkins yes V. Student Discipline A. Student 18-I Chairman Jenkins turned the hearing over to Doug Nelson as hearing officer, the duly appointed hearing officer for the purposes of administering the hearing. Mr. Nelson stated that his role as a hearing officer is to conduct the hearing in a way that the Board can hear all the information from the administration, the family, and the student regarding the incidents involved and the situation so they can make an informed and appropriate decision for the benefit of the family and the safety of other students because both interests are important. The student will be known as 18-I for their protection and privacy. The proceedings will not be discussed outside this room by the administration or the Board and will be placed in the student’s educational file. Mr. Nelson stated that the hearing is being recorded so that the administration or the family will be able to refer to it later if needed. A packet of all records that have come to the Board’s attention relating to this incident were given to the student’s family; the packet also includes the Board polices and Student Code of Conduct which relate to this hearing.
VI. Move Back Into Open Meeting MOTION: Greg Calder moved to move back into Open Meeting. Chad Dance seconded. The vote was 5 in favor with 0 opposed and 0 abstentions. Motion was carried. VII. Motions from Executive Session A. Student 18-I Discipline MOTION: Greg Calder moved to accept the resolution regarding student 18-I as follows: to expel student 18-I from attendance at schools in Bonneville School District for a period of one year. The student may conditionally re-enroll, with supervised attendance, at a school approved by the District Administration, subject to the execution of specific terms and guidelines. Scott Lynch seconded. The vote was 5 in favor with 0 opposed and 0 abstentions. Motion was carried. VIII. Adjournment Chairman Jenkins asked for a motion to adjourn at 12:40 p.m. MOTION: Chad Dance made the motion to adjourn. Greg Calder seconded. The vote was 5 in favor with 0 opposed and 0 abstentions.
