STUDENTS
PROOF OF RESIDENCY
Unless open enrollment status is granted by the Bonneville Joint School District No.
93, students who enroll in District schools must reside full-time in the School District
boundaries with their natural parent or legal guardian. Students and their
parent(s)/guardian(s), not granted open enrollment status, must remain full-time
residents of the District for the entire period of enrollment in District schools.
Guidelines
Proof of Residence
1. Proof of residence may be required when a student initially enrolls in a school and
whenever a change of residence occurs.
a. Proof of residency records must include the name and street address of the
parent/guardian.
b. The property address given must be the actual location where the student and
parent/guardian live full-time.
2. The principal/designee shall accept any of the following records as proof of
residency:
a. A current residential property tax statement or deed, a lease or rental
agreement consisting of written evidence that the agreement is valid and
current, or a current utility bill (gas, electric, water, home telephone, or cable),
or vehicle registration; OR
b. A third-person affidavit of residency completed with the school district
(1) The notarized affidavit shall be completed and signed by the parent/guardian,
as well as the legal owner or lesser of the property where the student and
parent/guardian reside.
(2) The affidavit will be in effect until the parent/guardian provides the required
proof of residence, but no longer than the end of the current school year.
Verification of Residency
A District representative may visit the address given by any parent/guardian to verify
residency.

STUDENTS
1. Students who are illegally enrolled shall be withdrawn from school.
2. The parent/guardian may be charged tuition for the period of time that a student is
illegally enrolled, together with all court and legal expenses incurred by the Board
in collecting school tuition.
3. Charges may be filed for providing false information on a legal document.
4. If the district determines false information has been provided on 3006F Affidavit of
Residency by Third Party form, the district will no longer accept the Affidavit of
Residency by Third Party for proof of residency.
DEFINITION:
Resident: is an individual who is a full-time occupant of a dwelling located in the
Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 boundaries and who, on any given school day, is
likely to be at their stated address when not at work or school. A person who owns
property in the District boundaries, but does not reside in the boundaries, is not
considered a resident for the purpose of this policy.
