Bonneville Joint School District No. 93
TRANSFER OF CREDIT
Upon receipt of an official transcript, new students entering Bonneville Joint School
District No. 93 from accredited public or private schools will generally be placed in
grades and classes on the basis of their placement/credits in the school from which they are transferring. The goal of the District shall be to place students at levels and in
settings that will enhance the probability of the student’s success.
Guidelines
1. District policies regulating pupil enrollment from other accredited elementary and secondary schools are designed to protect the educational welfare of the child and
of other children.
2. Academic achievement tests, developmental testing, together with other relevant criteria, including, but not limited to, health, maturity, emotional stability, and developmental disabilities, may be considered in the placement of all students.
3. Final disposition of all placement decisions and/or approval of transfer credits rests
with the principal, subject to review by the Superintendent/designee and the Board. Elementary Grades (K-8) Class Placement
1. Any student transferring into the District will be admitted and placed on a probationary basis for a period of two (2) weeks.
2. During the two-(2)-week probationary period, the student will be subject to
observation by the teacher and building principal.
3. Should any doubt exist with teacher and/or principal as to grade and level
placement of the student, the student shall be subject to an educational assessment
to determine appropriate grade and level placement.
Secondary Grades (9-12), Credit Transfer
1. Classes taken by a transfer student as part of requirements for any home school in grades 9-12 will not be accepted for credit towards graduation.
2. Requests for transfer of credits from any secondary school shall be subject to a
satisfactory examination of the following:
a. Appropriate certificates of accreditation.
b. Length of course, school day, and school year.

c. Content of applicable courses.
d. The school facility as it relates to credit earned (i.e., lab areas for appropriate
science or vocational instruction).
e. An appropriate evaluation of student performance leading toward credit
issuance.
3. The District may request demonstration of proficiency in classes taken at schools not having proper secondary accreditation (grades 9-12) prior to accepting credit
toward graduation.
a. Any student transferring from a private, parochial or home school will have said
records evaluated by the building Principal/designee. At the building Principal’s discretion, the final determination will be made by a committee established under
the direction of the Deputy Superintendent, along with the building Principal, and
three representative teachers of the District.
b. This committee will determine whether the proposed student has demonstrated proficiency in the several subjects required by the State and District and will
determine placement at a given grade level. Such determination will be
implemented immediately in order to assure the student does not miss any
educational opportunities.
