The purpose of the postsecondary dual enrollment program is to allow students to reach
desired career goals as efficiently as possible. Therefore, the Board of Trustees of the
Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 directs the Su perintendent/designee to develop
procedures and agreements with post secondary institutions that will result in the
elimination of duplicative learning experiences, the provision for efficient entry level
training programs, and enhanced opportunities for students.
As a result of the program, high school students will be provided the opportunity to earn
college credit while enrolled in high school courses.
Guidelines
Eligibility
Eleventh (11th) and twelfth (12th) grade students who are not foreign exchange students
are eligible for postsecondary dual enrollment.
Notification
1. The District will provide general information on postsecondary dual enrollment to
high school students by March 1 of each year.
2. Students seeking postsecondary dual enrollment must inform the Building Principal
of their intent to enroll prior to taking courses.
Counseling
1. To the extent possible, the District will provide counseling services to eligible
students and their parents /guardians before they enroll in postsecondary courses.
2. The District must receive a signed form from the student and the students'
parents /guardians indicating that the signees have received the information about
and understand their responsibilities for postsecondary dual enrollment.
Course Credit and Graduation Requirements
1. The District will grant academic credit to a student who meets the requirements of
this policy and successfully completes course work at a postsecondary institution.
2. The student must provide appropriate documentation of postsecondary course
content /requirements to the Su perintendent/designee.

3. The Superintendent/designee shall determine how the postsecondary courses fulfill
the District's graduation requirements.
4. Two or three (2 -3) semester college credits will equal one (1) District credit.
5. A student with postsecondary dual enrollment shall be subject to the same policies,
procedures, and school rules as any regularly enrolled student during the times that
this student is involved in a District program or activity.
6. A student with postsecondary dual enrollment shall be subject to all district
graduation requirements.
Appeal Process
1. All appeals and responses must be in writing.
2. Appeals on the granting of credit shall be made to the Su perintendent/designee.
3. The decision of the Superintendent /designee may be appealed to the Board of
Trustees for an informal review of the record.
4. The District shall send notification of the meeting date for the review of the appeal
within five (5) school days of the receipt of the request.
5. The Board of Trustee's decision is final.
Financial Arrangements
1. Payment for postsecondary courses is the responsibility of the student or the
parent/guardian.
2. The District will not make payments or partial payments for the postsecondary
enrollment of students.
Transportation
Transportation to and from a postsecondary institution is the responsibility of the student
or the parent/guardian.
DEFINITIONS:
Postsecondary Dual Enrollment: the type of enrollment for a student who:
has not graduated from high school.
is enrolled in a District school.

• is legitimately enrolled in any public or private postsecondary institution
accredited by a reputable accrediting association.
• is in compliance with the criteria outlined herein.
Program and Activity: shall include any regularly scheduled course of study or any
regularly scheduled interscholastic activity recognized or sanctioned by the Idaho High
School Activities Association or any school related activity.
