One (1) At -risk Coordinator will be designated to collect and disseminate data regarding
drop -outs in the Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 and to coordinate the District's
program for students who are at high risk of dropping out of school.
Guidelines
1. Each school year, the At -risk Coordinator will prepare a dropout reduction plan that
identifies:
a. the number of District students who dropped out in the preceding regular school
term;
b. the number of students in grades 1 -12 who are at risk of dropping out;
c. the District's dropout rate goal for the next school year;
d. the dropout reduction programs, resources and strategies to be used during the
school year.
2. The Board will review and approve the plan annually.
At -Risk Students
In determining whether a student is at high risk of dropping out of school, the District will
consider the following:
1. student's academic performance
2. student's attendance performance as well as whether the student:
a. is adjudged delinquent;
b. abuses drugs or alcohol;
c. is a student of limited English proficiency;
d. receives compensatory or remedial education;
e. is sexually, physically or psychologically abused;
f. is pregnant or a parent;
g. is an emancipated youth,

h. is a previous drop -out,
i. is a court or agency referral;
stops attending school before the end of the school year;
k. is an underachiever;
is unmotivated; or
m. exhibits other characteristics that indicate the student is at high risk of dropping
out of school.
Programs and District Plan
1. The District will provide a remedial and support program for any student who is at
risk of dropping out of school.
2. The District plan designed to retain students in a school setting will be the
responsibility of the Superintendent or the designated At -risk Coordinator and will:
a. emphasize a comprehensive team approach that includes the
Su perintendent/designee, principal, parent /guardian, teacher, student,
community service provider, business representative, or others;
b. include objectives designed to meet the identified needs of at -risk students and
to retain those students in school;
c. be designed to use community resources that are available to serve at -risk youth;
d. provide for parental involvement, such as participation in developing student
academic plans and training programs for parents; and
e. provide for review of individual profiles for at -risk students.
3. The District plan may also:
a. include alternatives; and
b. provide for the referral of students who drop out to other programs;
4. Alternative high school programs conducted during the school year will be conducted
off -site or scheduled at a time when school is not in session and shall comply with
the State Board of Education Rules Governing Thoroughness (IDAPA
08.02.03.110).
