Because students who participate in extra /co- curricular activities are representatives of
the Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 and the community when performing in
public, they are expected to behave in ways that are consistent with good
sportsmanship, leadership, and appropriate moral conduct. The primary purpose of the
extra /co- curricular activity program is to promote the physical, mental, aesthetic, social,
emotional, and moral well -being of students through participation and competition.
Guidelines
1. All extra /co- curricular activities should be designed to promote character - building
qualities of participation and leadership.
a. Students should not bring discredit to themselves, their family, the school, or the
community.
b. Participants involved in Board - approved extra /co- curricular activities must
demonstrate the same level of responsibility and behavior as is expected in the
classroom. Students are expected to:
1) show respect for faculty and other members of the school community;
2) refrain from engaging in or being an accomplice to illegal acts such as, but
not limited to, stealing, extortion, or vandalism;
3) refrain from the use of profanity, obscenities, gestures, any acts of gross
disrespect or insubordination or the representation of such acts;
4) refrain from actions that could disrupt or invade the rights of others or cause
disorder.
2. Adult supervisors, advisors, and /or coaches are responsible for the actions of the
student group, team, or club and as such are expected to require ethical and moral
behavior of students during all performances and /or competitions.
3. Administrators, participants, adult supervisors, parents, spirit groups, and
support/booster groups involved with extra /co- curricular activities are expected to
promote sportsmanship, ethics, morality, and integrity in all phases of the process.
a. The general appearance, dress and conduct of a group or team must bring credit
to the group, the school, and the community.
b. Participants carry the responsibilities of setting good examples at all times, on
any school premises or at any school sponsored activity, regardless of location.

c. Any display of unsportsmanlike conduct toward an opponent or official, or the use
of profanity, vulgarity, or lewd or obscene comments or gestures is prohibited
while participating in a practice, contest, or performance and will result in
counseling by the head coach, advisor and /or school administrator and may
result in a possible suspension.
4. Any member of the school administration has the right and duty to interrupt or
suspend any proceedings if the actions of a team or group are judged to be in poor
taste or endangering the safety of students and staff.
DEFINITIONS:
Co- curricular activities: District and /or school authorized activities held in conjunction
with a credit - bearing class but outside of the regular school day including, but not limited
to, debate, drama, drill team, and music.
Extra - curricular activities: District and /or school authorized activities which take place
outside of the regular school day and do not involve class credit, including, but not
limited to athletics, student organizations, and community activities for which high
school letters are awarded.
On any school premises or at any school sponsored activity, regardless of
location: shall include, but not be limited to buildings, facilities, and grounds on the
school campus, school busses, school parking areas; and the location of any school
sponsored activity. This includes instances in which the conduct occurs off the school
premises but impacts a school related activity.
