Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 Board of Trustees sets forth guidelines that
define the provision of employment of professional certified staff in compliance with
Federal and Idaho State statutes.
Guidelines
Conditions of Employment
1. Prior to signing a contract and receiving compensation from the District, all
prospective certified employees must have on record at the Human Resources
Office the following:
a. An original valid Idaho Education Credential certifying them in their field of
employment,
b. Official transcripts of college credits,
c. Proof of prior education experience (verified on a completed Professional
Experience Report form),
d. Proof of highly qualified status (where applicable),
e. Past performance history, and
f. A fingerprint/background check on file in the District Office before September 5 of
the current school year.
2. Any certified employee not fulfilling this criteria by September 15 will receive
substitute wages for any days worked.
3. If all certification requirements are not met by September 25 of the current school
year, employment may be terminated on September 26.
Compensation
1. Placement or advancement on the salary schedule shall be determined on the
following basis.
a. Credit hours earned toward certification as shown on official transcripts.
b. Number of credits after initial certification earned at an institution of higher
education accredited by the State Board of Education or a regional accrediting
association, and accepted for salary -based apportionment by the Idaho State
Department of Education.

c. Actual years of teaching or administrative experience (verified on a completed
Professional Experience Report) serving at an accredited public school or in an
accredited private or parochial school as approved by the Idaho State Department
of Education for salary -based apportionment purposes.
2. Stipends for extra assignments or extra days will be recommended by the building
principal and approved annually by the Board.
a. Such stipends will be on a supplemental contract.
b. All stipend assignments are annual with no assurances of continued work or
compensation.
c. The Board reserves the right to make adjustments in teaching duties or extra
assignments and to adjust salaries accordingly, as indicated on the contract,
when it determines the change to be in the best interest of the District.
3. In the event a certified employee resigns, is suspended, or removed for cause prior
to the end of the school year, or fails to continue teaching the whole school term, the
person will be paid a pro -rata share of the annual salary based on actual number of
days served.
Work Year
The number of days in the work year shall be determined annually by the Board of
Trustees including.
1. Student /teacher contact days,
2. Paid holidays,
3. In- service training days,
4. Professional workdays,
5. Parent - teacher conference days, and
6. Compensatory days.
Duties as Assigned
1. All certified employees are required to:
a. Perform assigned extra duties including such activities as before and after school
supervision, bus loading, hall supervision, etc.

b. Attend all faculty meetings called by the Superintendent and /or Building Principal.
c. Attend new teacher and benefit orientations, where applicable, prior to the
beginning of the school.
2. No additional compensation shall be awarded for attendance at and /or performance
of required duties as listed in this section, Duties as Assigned.
Leaves
1. Certified staff will be credited with sick leave and personal leave annually at the
beginning of the school year.
2. Pursuant to Idaho Code §33 -1217, unused sick leave will be allowed to accumulate
from year to year so long as the employee remains continuously in the service of the
District.
3. Certified staff may participate in the Sick Leave Bank.
4. Certified staff may be granted the following temporary leaves as set forth in the
current Master Agreement:
a.
Personal
b.
Bereavement
c.
Obligatory
d.
Professional
e.
Jury Duty
f.
Military
g.
FMLA
6. For absences not authorized by the District or days taken as leave without pay,
certified employees shall forfeit a pro -rated share of their annual salary for each
absent day as a liquidated damage and not as a penalty.
Worker's Compensation
To the extent that certified employees receive Worker's Compensation benefits under
the Worker's Compensation Act of the State of Idaho; the individual will follow District
policy #5465 Workers' Compensation Benefits.
DEFINITION:
Certified Staff: includes all certificated staff except principals and District
administrators.
