BUS DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS
Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 is committed to obtaining the finest drivers
possible. The Board of Trustees requires excellence in the safe transportation of
District students and directs the Superintendent /designee to recruit and hire school bus
drivers who demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
Guidelines
Requirements
1. Each bus driver shall meet the qualifications established by the State Department
of Education and the District, including, but not limited to the following:
a. Be twenty -one (21) years of age or older;
b. Have a High School Diploma or GED;
c. Have a good driving record;
d. Be of good moral character;
e. Meet federal CDL drug testing standards;
f. Possess a valid and appropriate commercial driver's license (CDL) and other
endorsements required by law; and
g. Be medically qualified under the physical examination standards of the Federal
Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (see Bus Driver Physical Exams #8135).
2. Each driver shall:
a. complete an application form,
b. present a satisfactory work history as verified through professional references,
c. demonstrate the ability to manage resources, students, and personnel
effectively, and
d. adhere to all applicable District policies and procedures.

Training
Each driver for the District shall meet the state standard of ten (10) hours of annual
approved driver training and classroom instruction (see Bus Driver Training policy
#8140).
Certifications and Endorsements
Drivers shall keep all certifications and endorsements current.
