SCHOOL BUS EMERGENCIES AND ACCIDENTS
The Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 Board of Trustees requires that all school
bus drivers operate at the maximum efficiency and effectiveness in a comprehensive
accident -prevention mode. In the event of an accident or other emergency, the bus
driver shall follow the emergency procedures developed by the Superintendent/
designee. An investigation of any school bus driver, whose vehicle is involved in an
accident, shall take place immediately, and should probable cause be shown, such
driver shall be terminated for failure to operate the vehicle in a safe manner.
Guidelines:
A copy of established emergency procedures shall be located in each bus (School
Bus Emergencies and Accidents Procedures #8182P1 and Bus Evacuation
Procedures #8182P2).
2. To ensure the success of such emergency procedures, each bus driver shall
conduct emergency evacuation drills in the fall and spring every school year (see
Bus Driver Responsibilities Procedures #8145P and Student Training — School Bus
Safety Procedures #8250P), pursuant to State of Idaho mandates.
3. The District shall conduct such other drills and procedures as may be necessary.
