MOTION: Kip Nelson made the motion to accept the termination of employee C-11, seconded by Annette Winchester,. All in favor, motion passed. V. Prayer: Marjean McConnell VI. Consent Calendar A. Trip Request BHS Ballroom Anaheim, California May 30 – June 5, 2011 MOTION: Annette Winchester made the motion to accept the consent calendar, seconded by DeVere Hunt. All in favor, motion passed. VII. Public Input Policy # 1550 - Public Input will provide an opportunity for any Board Member, administrator, staff member, student or patron to raise issues of interest. The Board will receive such input without comment, except to ask germane questions of those speaking. Comments should be limited to 3 minutes. The Board will take no action relative to any items during the meeting, but may direct the Superintendent to consider such an item at a subsequent meeting. VIII. Old Business 1. Budget Reduction – April Burton power point presentation on percentages of curs not positions. List of recommendations Supplemental levy without raising tax rate in August MOTION: Annette Winchester made the motion to accept the Budget Reduction as presented, seconded by Kip Nelson. All in favor, motion passed. IX. New Business 1. Football Equipment – Doug McLaren IHSAA require permission from Board to use the football equipment for 11 consecutive MOTION: Kip Nelson made the motion to accept the use of the football equipment for summer school camp, seconded by DeVere Hunt. All in favor, motion passed. 2. Reduction In Force Policy – Dr. Roberts policy 1324 gives immediate approval. turns over to Marjean McConnell used ISBA for advice and district attorney recommendation for final approval. MOTION: Annette Winchester made the motion to accept the Reduction in Force Policy, seconded by Kip Nelson. All in favor, motion passed. X. Committee, Curriculum and Administrative Reports 1. Policy Suspension – Dr. Roberts as part of the resolution the board did last month, conflict or language. Suspension for the next month, June they will be put into three different categories. In a revised form showing new laws and requirements and ask for final approval, if change in procedure or language for 30 days it will be posted for that. Recommendation to suspend until the June Board meeting. MOTION: DeVere Hunt made the motion to suspend the 71 policies and or procedures, seconded by Annette Winchester. All in favor, motion passed. 2. School Presentations a. Mountain Valley Elementary School – Principal, Brian Armes – see official presentation in Board minute binder i. Jennifer Horrocks, PTO President – first year opportunity to try a wide variety of fund reaisers : grandpartens day; field day; donation toatal 10k ; microwaves for cafeteria; die cut machine, art supplies. Rtym sitkcks and playground equipment. Cara Green – inaugural walk a thon – mustang market on Fridays; raise for plauground equipment; once a month restaurant night – proceeds donated back to school.gift casrds; fall carnival; silent acutions – box top, soup labels etc.bookfair for library at barnes and noble. b. Cloverdale Elementary School – Principal, Rich Coburn – see official presentation in Board minute binder i. Kirsten Cook, Vista Coordinator – 5000 books donated; 10k in donations from business; partnerships with state and federal entities; quarterly familu read nights…; most important one is increasing parent volunteers. Over 8k hours of volunteers c. Ucon Elementary School – Principal, Brady Johnson– see official presentation in Board minute binder i. Nanci Wadsworth, PTO President – three 1k grants for elmo projectors – did mini grantsx to help teachers; purchase fax machine, listening stations; finished AR movie parties; fall carnival and box tops two ways to earn money, in the process of helping purchase a copier; sells popcorn on Fridays, ii. Jessica Bassiks, Vista Volunteer – goal to get books into hands of kids and give away thousands of books with the jelp of the pto and Kiwanis club, coomunitu foundation and first book. Read once a wuarter to head start kids, grant to lowes for new playground equipment. Goal was to set up programs that were low cost and sustainable when I left. – reading buddies program; muffins with moms;donuts with dads; petery and poies imn the third grade; over 75 volunteers in the school that have been putting in over 1500 hours.
