COMMUNITY RELATIONS
3500

Bonneville Joint School District No. 93

DISTRIBUTING TREATS AND GIFTS AT SCHOOL

The Bonneville School District Board of Trustees understands that special days like
birthdays and class celebrations are important to children. Occasionally students wish to
observe these special days at school. If a student wishes to share a treat or celebrate
with his or her classmates, parents are required to contact the child’s teacher in
advance to make arrangements in an effort to minimize disruption of the learning
process.

Guidelines

1. All food items served as a treat shall be commercially produced with a legible label
identifying ingredients and allergen warnings. Food items that include allergens
should also be individually wrapped.

2. Flowers, Mylar balloons, or other gifts will be delivered at the end of the school day
to minimize distraction in the classroom.

Adopted 05-14-2014 Reviewed Revised 11-08-2023

Cross Reference: Managing Anaphylaxis #3515
