HomeMy WebLinkAbout2411 Section 504 StudentsINSTRUCTION 2411 Page 1 of 1 Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 SECTION 504 STUDENTS Pursuant to the provisions of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 will identify and evaluate students in need of special services or programs in order that the required free appropriate education may be offered. Guidelines 1. A student who may need special services or programs pursuant to Section 504 is one who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits his/her ability to participate in or benefit from the District’s educational programs. 2. A student may be qualified for services under Section 504, even though they are not eligible for services pursuant to the provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). 3. Students identified as individuals with exceptional needs under IDEA are not addressed in this policy. Their needs are provided for in policy #2400 Provision of Special Education and policy #2410 Special Education Handbook as well as under state and federal laws and regulations. 4. The District will provide a free appropriate education to any student who is eligible to receive regular or special education or related aids or services, regardless of the nature or severity of the condition necessitating such programs or services.
