STUDENTS <br />3125 <br />(also 4430) <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br /> <br />JUVENILE SEX OFFENDERS AT SCHOOL <br /> <br />Pursuant to Idaho Code §18-8329 (2)(a), juvenile sex offenders may attend school. The <br />Board of Trustees recognizes that juvenile sex offenders may pose a safety risk to <br />students within the school. Therefore, the Superintendent/designee shall develop <br />guidelines for determining educational placement of juvenile sex offenders that take into <br />consideration the protection of the health and safety of all students. Whenever possible, <br />District personnel should encourage and support juvenile sex offender with the <br />expectation that they will not commit further offense. <br /> <br /> <br />Guidelines <br /> <br />Notification of Registered Offenders <br /> <br />The Superintendent/designee shall contact the office of the Superintendent of Public <br />Instruction in order to receive information regarding the probationary or treatment status <br />of a registered juvenile sex offender who wishes to enroll at any school within the <br />District. <br /> <br />1. The request can be made of the Idaho State Superintendent of Public Instruction <br />pursuant to Idaho Code § 18-8408. <br /> <br />2. The Superintendent/designee shall disseminate pertinent information to building <br />principals. <br /> <br />Abuse of Registry Information <br /> <br />Employees who abuse registry information by using such for purposes of harassing, <br />intimidating, committing a crime against, causing harm to any person, or vigilantism <br />against the student shall be subject to disciplinary actions up to and including <br />termination. <br /> <br /> <br />DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />Juvenile Sex Offender: means a student who has been adjudicated delinquent or <br />convicted of and placed on probation for a dangerous offense such as sexual conduct <br />with a minor, sexual assault, molestation of a child, or continual sexual abuse of a child. <br /> <br /> <br />Adopted: 01-12-2011 Reviewed: 03-11-2020 Revised: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
