STUDENTS <br />3355 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br />Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br /> <br />STUDENT SUSPENSION <br /> <br />In the Bonneville Joint School District No. 93, the principal/designee of any school has <br />the authority to impose temporary suspension or emergency suspension. The <br />Superintendent/designee has the authority to impose emergency suspension or <br />extended temporary suspension. Either the principal or the Superintendent/designee <br />has the authority to recommend prolonged temporary suspension to the Board for <br />health reasons or disciplinary reasons or for any other conduct disruptive of the <br />educational process. The Board has the sole right to approve prolonged temporary <br />suspensions. <br /> <br /> <br />Guidelines <br /> <br />1. Suspensions shall be imposed for instances of serious student misconduct that: <br /> <br />a. is not in compliance with District policy or procedure, <br /> <br />b. is disruptive to the educational process, or <br /> <br />c. infringes upon the rights, property, health, or safety of others. <br /> <br />2. Students with disabilities may be suspended in compliance with Procedures for <br />Suspension of Students with Disabilities #355P2 and the IDEA. <br /> <br />3. Suspension may be imposed pending expulsion proceedings for instances when <br />enrolled students do not have the appropriate records on file at school or when <br />students are found to be illegally enrolled in District schools (see Procedure <br />#3360P1 Student Denial of Enrollment or Expulsion Procedures). <br /> <br />4. Suspension shall be imposed upon students for reasons of infectious or contagious <br />disease or exposure to contagious or infectious disease for which they have not <br />been immunized pursuant to Board Policy #3004 Immunization Requirements. <br /> <br />5. The total number of days imposed for temporary suspensions shall not exceed <br />twenty (20) school days. <br /> <br />Attendance and Make-up Work <br /> <br />In-school Suspension or Supervised School Suspension <br /> <br />1. The student is considered present for attendance purposes. <br /> <br />2. Make-up work for credit is allowed. <br /> <br />
