COMMUNITY RELATIONS <br />4105 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN BOARD MEETINGS <br />The Board of Trustees of Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 recognizes the value of <br />public comment on educational issues and the importance of involving members of the <br />community in its meetings. Therefore, the Board encourages all citizens of the District to <br />express their ideas and concerns but, any person who disturbs good order may be required <br />to leave. Comments from the public will be given careful consideration. In the evaluation of <br />such comments, District students and their educational program will be first priority. <br />Guidelines <br />Public Comment <br />1. The agenda for each Regular and Special Meeting of the Board may provide time for <br />public comment before the Board. <br />2. Because of the diversity of issues, the Board will not respond to public comment <br />during the meeting. Instead, issues may be recorded and referred to the proper staff <br />person for follow-up. <br />3. At the discretion of the Board Chairperson, individuals wishing to address the Board <br />may be required, to submit form #4105 Reauest to Appear Before the Board to the <br />Clerk of the Board, prior to the start of the Board meeting. <br />a. Forms are available from the Clerk at the District Office and at each meeting. <br />b. Comments will be taken regarding matters scheduled on the agenda or matters of <br />interest. <br />c. Comments or complaints about personnel or individual students will not be heard in <br />a Regular and/or Special Meeting of the Board. <br />4. The total time allotted for public comment shall not exceed one (1) hour. <br />a. At the discretion of the Chairperson, each speaker will be limited to three (3) minutes. <br />b. If a number of individuals wish to speak on the same issue or topic, they are <br />encouraged to select a representative to summarize their position before the <br />Board. <br />5. The Chairperson may interrupt or terminate an individual's statement when it is too <br />lengthy, personally directed, abusive, obscene, repetitive, or irrelevant. The Board of <br />Trustees as a whole shall have the final decision in determining the appropriateness of <br />all such rulings. <br />Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br />
