COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS PROCEDURE
Publication of Graduation Requirements
1. Prior to registering in high school, each student will be provided with a copy of the
current graduation requirements.
2. Graduation requirements shall also be included in the student handbook.
3. High School Course Description Handbooks will be made available in the counselors’
offices as well as online.
Credit Requirements
1. Students graduating from a comprehensive high school must earn 60 credits according
to the graduation requirements table to earn a comprehensive high school diploma.
2. Students who do not meet the comprehensive graduation requirements but still meet
the minimum requirements established by the State Board of Education for graduation
from high school may submit a written request to the school principal and
superintendent/designee to be awarded a basic high school diploma.
3. Graduation requirements for special education students may be altered according to
their Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

All public school students who enter grade nine (9) in Fall
2015 or later, shall receive a minimum of one (1) class
period on psychomotor cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) training as outlined in the American Heart
Association (AHA) Guidelines for CPR to include the
proper utilization of an automatic external
defibrillator (AED) as part of the Health/Wellness course

Physical Education
2 credits
Students participating in one of the following activities
may choose to substitute such participation for up to one
(1) credit of physical education.
● One (1) season in any sport recognized by the
Idaho High School Activities Association; or
● Club sport recognized by the District; or
● Eighteen (18) weeks of a sport recognized by the
District.
9 Senior Project 1 credit
Total 40 credits
Senior Project
The senior project is a culminating project to show a student’s ability to analyze,
synthesize, and evaluate information and communicate that knowledge and
understanding. A student must complete a senior project by the end of grade twelve (12).
The project must include elements of research, development of a thesis using experiential
learning or integrated project-based learning experiences and presentation of the project
outcome. It is expected that students will spend a minimum of 15 hours in completing the
learning experience.
Testing Requirements
1. All students graduating from any Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 high school
must be proficient in the state civics and government content standards either through the
completion of the civics test or an alternate path and it shall be noted on the student’s high
school transcript.
a. Students will be given multiple opportunities to meet this standard. Students are
expected to take the test until they earn a passing score.
b. Students who are not able to earn a passing score on this assessment will be given
the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the state civics and
government standards in an alternate manner.

c. A teacher assigned to teach U.S. History, Government, or Economics may certify
that the student has met this requirement through an alternate method.
Waiver of Requirement
1. All state graduation requirements shall be met.
2. Only in rare and unique hardship circumstances, may the Principal recommend minor
deviation from the District’s graduation requirements to the Superintendent of Schools
for approval.
High School Credit Earned in Middle School
Students who complete high school courses in seventh (7th) or eighth (8th) grade will be
given high school credit pursuant to Idaho Administrative Code 08.02.03.105.06.
