PERSONNEL <br />5830 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br /> <br /> <br />REDUCTION IN FORCE <br /> <br />The Board has the responsibility to provide quality instructional programs and services <br />to the students of this District and to implement the educational interest of the state, <br />consistent with state and federal educational requirement s, including: Adequate Yearly <br />Progress, District and school improvement plans, accreditation requirements, and other <br />school-based issues. The Board also has the obligation and responsibility to <br />discontinue programs and reduce staff consistent with the need s and resources of the <br />District. Should elimination of programs, services, and/or certified staff positions <br />become necessary, the guidelines of this policy shall be implemented in order to <br />provide a fair and organized process for such elimination. <br /> <br />Guidelines <br /> <br />1. The Board has the sole and exclusive authority to : <br /> <br />a. Determine the appropriate number of certified personnel employed in the <br />District; <br /> <br />b. Continue or discontinue programs or services; or <br /> <br />c. Implement a Reduction in Force (RIF); <br /> <br />d. Eliminate certified staff positions consistent with the provisions of Idaho State <br />statutes; <br /> <br />2. Elimination of certified staff positions may occur as a result of, but not be limited to: <br /> <br />a. Decreases in student enrollment; <br /> <br />b. Changes in curriculum; <br /> <br />c. Class loads; <br /> <br />d. Financial conditions or limitations of the District; or <br /> <br />e. Other conditions necessitating reductions. <br /> <br />3. The Board may choose to implement a RIF through the elimination of: <br /> <br />a. An entire program or portions of programs; <br /> <br />b. Positions in certain grade levels only; <br />
