NON - INSTRUCTIONAL
TRANSPORTATION
8100
The Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 Board of Trustee's primary concern in
providing transportation services is the safety and protection of the health of students.
Therefore, eligible students residing within the District, who attend District schools, will
be provided transportation to and from school. Riding a school bus, however, is not an
undeniable right. It is a privilege that each rider has the responsibility to retain through
appropriate behavior while entering, riding, and exiting a school transportation vehicle.
Guidelines
1. The type of transportation provided by the District may be by a school bus or other
vehicle.
a. When transportation is impractical (as determined by the Board of Trustees by
reason of sparseness of students, remoteness of location, or condition of roads),
payment "in lieu" of transportation may be made to a parent/guardian for
individually transporting their student.
b. The Board of Trustees shall approve all "in lieu" of transportation arrangements.
2. The Board of Trustees may authorize children attending non - public schools to ride a
school bus provided that space is available and a fee to cover the per -seat cost for
such transportation is collected (see policy #8107 Non - public School Student,
Ineligible Student, and Non - student Transportation).
3. Homeless students shall be transported in accordance with the McKinney Homeless
Assistance Act and state law (see policy #3060 Education of Homeless Children).
Adopted 11 -16 -1983 Reviewe Revise 10 -10 -2007
d d
Cross Reference: Education of Homeless Children #3060
Student Qualifications for Transportation #8105
Non - public School Student, Ineligible Student, and Non - student Transportation
#8107
Non - public School Student, Ineligible Student, and Non - student Transportation
Procedures #8107P
Non - Transportation Zones #8115
Bus Routes, Stops #8110
Safety Busing #8120
Transportation of Students with Disabilities #8125
Unauthorized School Bus Entry #8265
Legal Reference: I.C. § 33 -1501 Transportation Authorized
I.C. § 33 -1503 Payments when transportation not furnished
IDAPA 08.02.03.109 Special Education
Bonneville Joint School District No. 93
