STUDENT QUALIFICATIONS FOR TRANSPORTATION
Transportation shall be provided to and from the District's traditional schools for
students in grades kindergarten through twelve residing within the District boundaries
who meet the qualifications specified in Idaho Code and State Board of Education
Rules.
Guidelines
Transportation of Students Residing Greater than One and one -half (1 %) Miles
The Superintendent/designee shall offer, where practical, transportation services to
District students living one and one -half (1'/2) miles or more from the nearest
appropriate school or bus stop as determined by the nearest and best route from the
junction of the driveway of the student's home and the nearest public road to the
nearest door of the school in his /her attendance area.
Transportation of Students Residing in Safety Busing Zones
The Superintendent/designee shall offer transportation for students who reside less
than one and one -half (1'/2) miles from school when, in the judgment of the Board, the
age, health, or safety of the students warrants such action pursuant to the Safety
Busing policy #8120.
Transportation of Students with Disabilities
The Superintendent/designee shall waive the one and one -half (1'/2) mile requirement
for transportation of students with disabilities who's IEP identifies transportation as a
related service.
Transportation of Students to and from Child Care Facilities
1. A day care center, family day care home, or a group day care facility as defined in
Section 39 -1102, Idaho Code, may substitute for the student's residence for student
transportation to and from school when the facility meets the transportation
requirements outlined above and is in the student's school attendance zone.
2. Parents /guardians are required to complete the Deviation Form #8105F before the
student will be transported to a location other than the student's residence.
3. The District shall not transport students between child care facilities and home.

Transportation of Students for Other Reasons
If in the judgment of the Board of Trustees, a student has other compelling and legally
sufficient reasons to receive transportation services, the Superintendent/designee shall
offer transportation services.
Transportation of Students under Open Enrollment or Dual Enrollment
1. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardians for students who are
accepted for transfer under the Open Enrollment policy #3010 or for enrollment
under the Dual Enrollment policy #3030.
2. Transportation to and from a postsecondary institution is the responsibility of the
student or parent/guardian pursuant to the Postsecondary Dual Enrollment policy
#3031.
