NON - INSTRUCTIONAL OPERATIONS <br />8195 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />INSPECTION OF SCHOOL BUSES <br />All school buses owned and operated by the Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br />shall be inspected pursuant to Section 33 -1506 of Idaho Code. Vehicles that fail to <br />meet inspection deadlines, or safety standards, or are in any way found to be unsafe or <br />unfit for the transportation of students, shall be withdrawn from service and shall not <br />return to service until necessary repairs are certified. <br />Guidelines <br />New Bus Inspection <br />Any newly acquired school buses shall be inspected by a duly authorized <br />representative of the State Department of Education before being used for student <br />transportation. <br />Annual Inspection <br />1. All school buses shall be inspected at intervals of not more than twelve (12) <br />months. <br />2. A report of such inspection shall be filed with State Department of Education. <br />Other Inspections <br />1. The Transportation Manager /designee shall cause inspection to be made of all <br />buses at intervals of not more than sixty (60) days during the school year. <br />2. Drivers shall ensure the safe condition of the school bus by conducting an initial <br />and thorough daily pre -trip school bus inspection and submit maintenance reports <br />as needed. <br />3. Drivers shall perform daily post -trip vehicle inspections. <br />Records of Inspections <br />1. A copy of the current daily pre -trip inspection report sheet must be carried in the <br />bus. <br />2. Prompt reports of defect that require immediate attention shall be submitted to the <br />lead mechanic. <br />Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br />
