ACTIVITY TRIP TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is a vital and critical element the educational experience. The use of
school buses shall be strictly limited to school activities. Buses shall not be loaned or
leased to non - school groups.
Guidelines
Assigning Activity Bus Drivers
The Transportation Manager shall be responsible for selecting and assigning bus
drivers for activity trips.
1. Buses shall only be operated by a qualified driver (see Bus Driver Qualifications
#8130, Bus Driver Physical Exams #8134, Criminal and Drivinq Record #8137,
Criminal and Drivinq Record Procedures #8137P, School Bus Driver Training
#8140, and School Bus Driver Training Procedures #8140P).
2. Regular school bus drivers may be given the opportunity to take activity trips
only if:
a. The assigned route is not negatively impacted;
b. Individual weekly time restraints are not impacted; or
c. Driver's ability to meet the trip time schedule.
Authorized Riders
Only authorized participants, professional staff, chaperones assigned by the
administration, or individuals approved by the Transportation Manager may ride an
activity bus.
Passenger List
A duplicate copy of the passenger list will be made for all activity trips.
1. One (1) copy shall remain with the professional staff member in charge on the bus.
2. One (1) copy shall be given to the building principal /designee before the bus
departs.

Bus Safety
All buses used to transport students on activity trips shall be in safe mechanical
and good working condition (see Inspection of School Buses #8195 and Pre -and
Post -Trip Inspection Procedures #8195P).
2. All passengers on activity trips are expected to conduct themselves pursuant to
District policy #8240 Student Conduct and Discipline on Buses, Student Conduct
and Discipline on Buses Procedure #8240P1, and Bus Safety Rules #8240P2.
