STUDENTS
3110

Bonneville Joint School District No. 93

SCHEDULING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

It is the purpose of the Board of Trustees and School Administration to provide all high
school students with the opportunity to choose their courses to the greatest extent
possible, and to offer such courses to them in an organized, equitable manner.

Guidelines

1. During the spring of each year, high school counselors shall meet with students for
pre-registration.

a. Course description books shall be available online as well as in printed form
upon request.

b. Students will be asked to share course information with their parent(s)/
guardian(s).

c. Students will be expected to choose desired courses, and alternate choices, for
the following school year.

2. School personnel shall compile students’ class requests and use the data to
construct a master schedule that will best provide for the preferred courses.

a. The master schedule will indicate when courses are planned to be taught.

b. Staff teaching assignments will be made, based on the master schedule.

3. New students may register for classes during new student registration as indicated
on the District calendar.

4. Each high school will designate a period of time for class change requests, either at
the end of the school year, the beginning of school in the fall, or at the beginning of
a new grading period.

a. These windows shall not extend beyond the end of the fifth (5th) full day of class.

b. Students who wish to change their schedule must present a signed
parent/guardian permission slip prior to making the change.

c. Unless the high school initiates the change, students may be charged a ten
dollar ($10.00) fee for class changes after initial course requests are scheduled.

d. Transfer students will be exempt from the schedule change charge during their
first grading period.
