Call to Order Chairman Chad Dance called the meeting to order 6:34 p.m. II. Roll Call Greg Calder present Paul Jenkins present Scott Lynch present Chad Dance present III. Action Item: Approve/Amend Agenda MOTION: Paul Jenkins moved to approve the Agenda. Greg Calder seconded. Motion carried. IV. Welcome Visitors and Delegations Chairman Dance introduced the School Board and Superintendent Woolstenhulme to those in attendance. Zone 2 Candidates Carrisa Coats and Robin Dumas expressed their interest in serving on the School Board. V. Interviews for Zone 2 Candidates Chairman Dance reminded the candidates that this appointment will expire December 31, 2021. If they desire to continue on the Board, the Declaration for Candidacy paperwork is due by Septemer 3, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. to the Board Clerk for the School Board election November 2, 2021. Candidates Carissa Coats and Robin Dumas met with the Board to discuss their interest in serving in Zone 2 on the Board of Trustees of Bonneville Joint School District 93. Interview panel questions were: • What do you see as the Board’s most important roles and responsibilities? • Do you have sufficient time and energy to devote to this position? Possible work, travel, family conflicts? • How would you handle a request, if approached by an individual? By a special interest group? • What is your vision for education in this community? • Describe the superintendent’s role. • What kind of relationship should the Board have with the community? With parents and families? • What are the current challenges facing education? School Boards? • What do you think is expected of you as a Board member? • What long-range plan would you want to implement for the school district? (May include growth, over-crowded classrooms, curriculum, staffing, and/or parental involvement) • What is your view of the respective roles of the school Board, the superintendent, and the teachers in the development and selection of classroom curricula, text books, etc.? • What is your understanding of district financial responsibilities? • How do you best deal with conflict? 2 Candidates Carissa Coats and Robin Dumas met with the Board to discuss their interest in serving in Zone 2 on the Board of Trustees of Bonneville Joint School District 93. VI. Board Discussion Chairman Dance opened up discussion to review candidates interested in filling the vacancy for Zone 2 for the remainder of the term, expiring December 31, 2021. All Bboard members felt both condidates were qualified to fill this vacancy. Further deliberation and appointment will be made at the Special Meeting on Spetember 1, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the PLC Building and the new trustee will be sworn in at the Regular Meeting on September 8, 2021. VII. Call for Agenda Items for Upcoming Meetings Work Session on September 1, 2021 will be changed to a Special Meeting in order to take action for the Zone 2 appointment. A family dinner was planned for Saturday, September 25., 2021 hosted by Trustee Paul Jenkins Work Session Special Meeting - Wednesday, September 1, 2021 – PLC Building - 11:30 a.m. Regular Meeting - Wednesday, September 8, 2021 - District Board Room - 7:00 p.m. VIII. Action Item: Adjournment Chairman Dance adjourned the meeting at 7:58 p.m. MOTION: Scott Lynch moved to adjourn. Greg Calder seconded. Motion carried.
