The Superintendent/designee may order the closure of schools in the
event of extreme or hazardous weather, facility failures, or other emergencies that may
threaten the safety or health of students and/or staff.

Guidelines

1. When an emergency closure occurs, the Superintendent/designee shall request that
such closure be placed on the Consent Calendar for the next regular Board meeting.

2. Upon approval by the Board and pursuant to Idaho Code 33 -512(1)(c)(ii), up to
eleven (11) hours of emergency school closure due to adverse weather conditions
and/or facilities failures may be reduced from the annual instructional hour
requirements.

SCHOOL EVENTS ON EMERGENCY CLOSURE DAYS
It is acknowledged by the Board of Trustees of Bonneville Joint School District No. 93
that certain scheduled events may need to be canceled or rescheduled due to an
emergency closure due to events such as extreme weather, facility failures or other
emergencies. It is also understood that some scheduled events may need to be
permitted as scheduled.

Guidelines

The following guidelines are intended to be used when considering the rescheduling of
events on emergency closure days.

1. On official emergency closure days, regularly scheduled practices or activities, at the
discretion of the Superintendent/designee and principal, may be canceled,
rescheduled, or permitted, as the specific conditions permit.
2. No school events, activities, or practice may occur during an emergency school
closure before 1 pm. Exceptions to this must be approved by the Superintendent/
designee and may include events that have already started or travel that may have
occurred prior to the emergency closure. Bus trips that are scheduled to depart
before 1 pm must be approved by the Superintendent/designee.
3. If a team or group is already at the school when the decision to cancel school is
made, they may continue their scheduled practice if conditions allow. Building
