• Natural light wells allowing flow of light into classrooms and over entrances to third floor <br />• Science department will be on the third floor for ventilation reasons <br />• Administration offices will have view of incoming and outgoing students and patrons <br />• Gym and auditorium will have its own lobby space <br />• Large parking lot for students, sport events and auditorium events <br />• Sports concessions will be near the kitchen <br />• Administration and media center will be on one floor <br />• Simple circulation and flow of hallways <br />• Student lockers on 2nd and 3rd floor corridors that are not heavily traveled <br />• Main flow stairs for access and egress <br />• Utilitarian stairs throughout the building to ease traffic flow <br />• Elevators for handicap use and in auditorium to balcony level <br />• Student drivers should not interfere with bus traffic <br />• Sport complex orientation due to solar <br />• Utilities in connection to future middle school <br />• Site to eliminate school traffic through neighborhoods <br />Questions and concerns were: <br />• Neighborhood concerns <br />o Buffering of existing noise and lights from activities <br />o Disperse student loads in two exits <br />o No school traffic through neighborhoods <br />o Excess property space? <br />■ County does not want dead end streets in neighborhoods nearby <br />■ Infrastructure in place will be good selling point <br />• Main gym entry access need to be near the parking lot for that venue <br />• Home team west side, gym entry/parking on west <br />• Flow of bus drop off, student drivers, and patron visitors still need to be considered <br />• Visitors should enter admin first before entering school <br />• Shorten entrance corridor <br />• Arts on the south side? <br />o Music on north side of building for easy access to stadium/fields for practice and <br />performance <br />Floor plan specifics: <br />• Grade level locker space, i.e., 9th grade hall, etc. <br />• Sound barrier in weight room and band rooms <br />• General classrooms on second floor <br />• Storage rooms for Science area <br />• 10 foot hallways without lockers <br />• 12 foot hallways with lockers only on one side of hallway <br />• Limited access into building <br />• Control point with locking doors more for after-hours functions <br />• Commons near administration area <br />• Security of doors during school day vs. events <br />• Lock access points during specific hours of school operation <br />• Evacuation of building will be accordingly with national fire codes regulations <br />Back to the drawing board: <br />• Flow of bus drop off for high school students and future middle school students <br />• Determine stair flow max at one given time <br />• Reconfigure parking access to gymnasium/sporting events <br />
