asarequirementofoneoftheireducationclasses andMr.PymmfromBonnevilleHighSchool.He <br />expressedappreciationforthestudentsinthecouncilandaskedMr.McLarentointroducethestudentswhowouldbepresenting.Mr.McLarenexpressedappreciationtothe <br />studentsandMrs.Crabtreefortheir greatworkandaskedthemtointroducethemselvesandtheirpositiononthecouncil.Healsointroduced <br />A.HillcrestStudentCouncil Presentation <br />JacobWarner,StudentBodyPresidentintroducedmembersofthecouncil.TheyhaveuseaChineseproverbastheirguidethisyear.“Notthecry,buttheflightofthe <br />wildduck,leadstheflocktoflyandfollow.Theyhopetoleadbytakingflightlikethewildduckthroughsupport,andbuildingconfidenceinthestudentbody.Itis <br />importanttounderstandthatitisnotthecrybuttheflightthatinspiresotherstofollow.Eachofthe memberstalkedaboutthedifferentactivitiesthattheyhadbeen <br />involvedinthusfar.Amongthemwere:The Retreat wherethecouncil gottoknoweachotherbetterandputtogetherthemissionstatementthatunifiedthemintheir <br />purpose;The 4th ofJulyParade wheretheyto1st placeforthefloattheyenteredwiththethemeofgoingbigandnotgoinghome;Classteeshirts weresoldat <br />registration,theywillhelppromotespiritandunityas597weresold;FreshmanDay wasasuccessaspeopleinthecouncilwereattheschooltohelpstudentsthrough <br />orientation,shortclasses,anassembly,andknowledgeofwherethingsarelocated;WelcomeAssemblies foreachclasswherestudentswerepresentedtheKnight’s <br />Creed,dresscode(fashionshow),planners(skit);BacktoSchoolDance tailoredtotheunderclassmenheldafterthefootballgametohelpunifyfreshmenand <br />sophomores;CivilWar SpiritWeek wasgeartobringeveryonetogether;and Homecoming isthisweekwithpowderpufffootball,parade,royalty,spiritdays,and <br />dance.Futureplansarecentered on theChineseProverb,“Tell meandI’llforget;showmeandImayremember;involve meandI’llunderstand.”Thecouncilis <br />planningactivitiestoinvolvethespecialneedsstudents.Theywanttotrytoinvolveeverybodysotheyfeelwelcome.Theyhavearrangedforan 8ton7foot highSpirit <br />Rocktobeplacedat theschool. <br />B.UpdateonNewElementaryConstruction -RogerHill <br />Mr.Hillreportedthatconstructionisonschedule.Two-thirdsofthefloorpadshavebeenpoured.Theyaredoingtheelectricalastheygo.MasonswillbeinonMonday <br />andcurbandgutters arebeingpoured.Thereisaconstructionaccessroadwestofthe subdivision sononeoftheconstructiontrafficgoesthroughtheneighborhood. <br />Dr.Shackettstatedthatwhenappointinganewprincipalforthenewschool,weholdoffaslongaspossiblesowedon’tdisrupt thecurrentoperationsattheother <br />schoolsinthedistrict. <br />C.UpdateontheWarehouseRemodel -RogerHill <br />Mr.Hillreportedthatwehavereceivedtheelectricalpermitforthree-phasepower.Wearenowrunningconduitandinstallingelectricalpanels.Wearehopingtoobtain <br />thebuildingpermitsoon.ThecompletiondateisApril1,2013.Heexpectstodomostoftheremodelwithinhousemaintenancepeople.Wemayhavetorelyonsome <br />contracts.Theywillusecontractorstodothesewerandputupthe studs. <br />D.DistrictBuildingCapacityPotentialSolutions -CraigMiller/ElisaSaffle <br />Ms.SaffleandMr.Millerstatedthattheyworkherebecausethisisavisionarydistrict.Theyornervousaboutthewavestudentstheyseecomingtothehighschool <br />level inthenearfuture.Theyareconcernedaboutthepossibilityofsplitsessionsbecauseoftheimpactonfamilies.Theystated thatthebestoptionistobuildathird <br />highschoolandathirdmiddleschool.Thiswouldgivestudentsmoreoptionsforparticipation.Othersolutionscouldbetoaddontothehighschoolsbutnotthemiddle <br />schoolsandhaveamajorshiftingradeconfigurationwheregrades10-12wouldgotothehighschools,grades8and9wouldattendmiddleschool;thenbuildtwo <br />buildingsone onthenorthandoneonthesouthtohousegrades6and7.Taking6th gradeoutoftheelementarieswouldallowroomformoreexpansionatthatlevel <br />withouthavingtobuildmoreelementaryschools.YoucouldthencloseAmmonElementaryandmovetheDistrictOfficetothatspaceandgivethecurrentDistrict <br />OfficebuildingtoRockyMountainMiddleschoolortotheTechnicalSchool.Thismovewouldaffecteverybodyandwouldintroducemoretransitionstokids’lives.They
