COMMUNITY RELATIONS <br />4420 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br /> <br />SEX OFFENDERS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY <br /> <br />The Board of Trustees recognizes the danger sex offenders pose to student safety. In <br />an effort to protect students while under the control and supervision of the District, <br />registered sex offenders, of whom District officials have knowledge, shall be denied <br />entrance to school property or school-related activities regardless of location pursuant <br />to Idaho Code § 18-8329. <br /> <br /> <br />Guidelines <br /> <br />Notification of Information Regarding Registered Sex Offenders <br /> <br />1. Building principals shall receive annual training and shall check the sex offender <br />registration online as necessary. <br /> <br />2. Principals shall be informed that registry information may only be used for the <br />protection of the public and penalties for misuse are provided in Section 18-8326 <br />Idaho Code. <br /> <br />3. Building principals shall disseminate sex offender registry information received to <br />school staff. <br /> <br />Abuse of Registry Information <br /> <br />1. Employees who abuse registry information by using such for purposes of harassing, <br />intimidating, committing a crime against, causing harm to any person, or damaging <br />property shall be subject to disciplinary actions up to and including termination. <br /> <br />2. Individuals who are found guilty of abusing registry information shall be guilty of a <br />misdemeanor and shall be subject to imprisonment or fine pursuant to Idaho Code <br />Chapter 83. <br /> <br />Posting Notices on Non-school Property Used by School District Students <br /> <br />The District will cooperate with the property owner of any non-school location at which <br />school activities will regularly occur to post notices that the property is being used by a <br />school, pursuant to Idaho Code Section 18-8329. <br /> <br />DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />School Property: Includes but is not limited to buildings, facilities, and grounds on the <br />school campus, school buses, school bus stops, school parking areas, and any facility <br />being used for a school function. <br />
