Too great an emphasis on winning contests, or to consistent a record of losing, <br />are both harmful to the development of good attitudes among students and the <br />public. <br /> <br />3. Participation in interscholastic athletics is limited to students in grades seven through <br />twelve (7-12). <br /> <br />4. Students, grades 9-12, are members of the Idaho High School Activities Association <br />(IHSAA), and in all athletic matters will adhere to the rules and regulations of that <br />body and to the philosophy of sports which IHSAA encourages. <br /> <br />5. The eligibility of students to participate in the athletic programs is determined in <br />accordance with IHSAA regulations. <br /> <br />6. Students participating in extracurricular activities in grades 7-8 are expected to <br />conform to the appropriate junior high school conference. <br /> <br />7. Students who participate in interscholastic athletics must purchase an activity card. <br /> <br />Minimum GPA Required <br /> <br />1. To be academically eligible for athletics, a student must be enrolled full-time and <br />have received passing grades and earn credits in at least five (5) out of six (6) full- <br />credit subjects in the previous grading period for which credit is granted. <br /> <br />2. An incomplete or conditional grade received at the end of a grading period counts as <br />failure until the deficiency is removed. <br /> <br />Medical, Insurance and Parental Consent Requirements <br /> <br />1. The IHSSA requires that each student must receive a physical examination and <br />have on record with the school the interim questionnaire (3385F2) prior to the first <br />practice. Physicals are required prior to the first day of practice in the 9th and 11th <br />grades and may not be taken before May 1 of the 8th grade year. <br /> <br />2. All physicals are valid for two years. A student will not be required to have an <br />additional physical examination during the 10th and 12th grades unless: <br /> <br />a. The physician recommends the student athlete have an additional examination; <br /> <br />b. The parents request an examination in the Interim Questionnaire (3385F2); <br /> <br />c. Affirmative answers on 1-9 of the Interim Questionnaire indicate a possible <br />need for a repeat physical examination; or <br /> <br />d. An athlete has transferred to Idaho from another state. <br />
