STUDENTS <br />3389 <br />Page 2of4 <br />Activity Suspension for Repeated Minor Infractions or a Major Infraction during <br />an Activity <br />1. A student may be suspended from an extracurricular or co -curricular activity when <br />he/she commits a third minor infraction, or a major infraction, while engaged in an <br />extra -curricular or co -curricular activity on any school premises or at any school <br />sponsored activity, regardless of location. <br />2. The coach or advisor will recommend suspension to the principal/designee. <br />DEFINITIONS <br />Co -curricular Activities: are held outside the regular school day but are integral to the <br />classroom as part of the stated curriculum. Such activities include, but are not limited <br />to, Idaho High Schools Activities Association (IHSAA) sanctioned Speech Arts, Spirit, <br />and Music activities. <br />Contraband: Illegal or prohibited property, the possession of which is forbidden under <br />school policy or illegal under state or federal law. Contraband shall consist of, but is not <br />limited to, stolen property, pornography, alcohol, tobacco, illicit drugs and/or prescription <br />or nonprescription drugs designed to alter the feeling or behavior of an individual, or <br />drugs that appear to be any of the above. <br />Extracurricular Activities: are held outside the regular school day. These activities <br />include IHSAA sanctioned Sports. Although many of these activities involve travel or <br />participation during school time, the base of the organization for meeting and practice is <br />held outside of the school timetable. <br />Activity Suspension or Suspension from Extracurricular or Co -Curricular <br />Activities: suspended students shall not travel, dress in uniform, associate or <br />participate with the team or group at its scheduled event(s). Suspended students may <br />be allowed to participate in practices/meetings; however, the principal/designee may <br />deem it necessary for students to be withheld from practices/meetings for the duration <br />of the suspension. <br />Controlled Substances: include, but are not limited to opiates, opium derivatives, <br />hallucinogenic substances, including cocaine, and cannabis and synthetic equivalents <br />or the substances contained in the plant, any material, compound, mixture or <br />preparation with substances having a depressant effect on the central nervous system, <br />and stimulants. <br />Drugs: shall include any alcohol or malt beverage, any inhalant, any tobacco product, <br />any controlled substance, any illegal substance, any abused substance, any look-alike <br />or counterfeit drug, any medication not approved and registered by the school <br />authorities and/or any substance which is intended to alter mood, and/or any substance <br />which is misrepresented and sold or distributed as a restricted or illegal drug. <br />Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br />Suspension from Extracurricular and Co -curricular Activities <br />
