STUDENTS <br />3525 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />DEFINITIONS <br />Head Lice: is the common name for Pediculosis Capitis, a parasite found only on the <br />human hair and scalp. <br />Nits: The egg case of Pediculosis Capitis most often found attached to hair shafts. <br />Nit Free Policy: all live lice and all nits must be removed before a student can be <br />readmitted to school. <br />Pediculosis Association: refers to the National Pediculosis Association headquartered <br />in Newton, Massachusetts. <br />Target School: Any school which historically seems to exhibit a propensity of having <br />students with head lice. <br />Adopted 11 -16 -1988 Reviewed <br />Revised 02 -08 -2006 <br />Legal Reference: I.C. § 33 -512 Governance of Schools <br />Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br />
