HomeMy WebLinkAbout5830 Reduction in ForcePERSONNEL 5830 Page 1 of 2 Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 REDUCTION IN FORCE The Board has the responsibility to provide quality instructional programs and services to the students of this District and to implement the educational interest of the state, consistent with state and federal educational requirement s, including: Adequate Yearly Progress, District and school improvement plans, accreditation requirements, and other school-based issues. The Board also has the obligation and responsibility to discontinue programs and reduce staff consistent with the need s and resources of the District. Should elimination of programs, services, and/or certified staff positions become necessary, the guidelines of this policy shall be implemented in order to provide a fair and organized process for such elimination. Guidelines 1. The Board has the sole and exclusive authority to : a. Determine the appropriate number of certified personnel employed in the District; b. Continue or discontinue programs or services; or c. Implement a Reduction in Force (RIF); d. Eliminate certified staff positions consistent with the provisions of Idaho State statutes; 2. Elimination of certified staff positions may occur as a result of, but not be limited to: a. Decreases in student enrollment; b. Changes in curriculum; c. Class loads; d. Financial conditions or limitations of the District; or e. Other conditions necessitating reductions. 3. The Board may choose to implement a RIF through the elimination of: a. An entire program or portions of programs; b. Positions in certain grade levels only; PERSONNEL 5830 Page 2 of 2 Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 Reduction in Force c. Positions by category; d. Positions as a result of an overall review of the District; e. Positions through other considerations and implementation decisions; f. A portion or percentage of positions; or any combination of the above. DEFINITION Teacher: shall apply to any employee of the District who holds a certificate issued by the Idaho State Board of Education and who is employed in a teaching or administrati ve position, below the rank of superintendent.
