OPERATION OF SCHOOL BUSES
The safety of the children is the primary consideration which overrides all others in
school bus transportation and must be given paramount consideration in all decisions
and action, including but not limited to the evacuation of students, including lifting
students with injuries and /or disabilities, turning corners, stopping, starting, and speed.
School buses used to transport students in the Bonneville Joint School District No. 93
shall be operated in conformity with law and with rules and regulations of the
Department of Law Enforcement and the State Board of Education.
Guidelines
1. Drivers are required to properly wear the driver's seat belt whenever the bus is in
motion.
2. Drivers are required to inspect the vehicle and special equipment pursuant to
District policy #8195 Inspection of School Buses prior to transporting students.
3. Drivers shall at all times operate the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
4. Transportation employees are responsible for the proper use of all school vehicles
and property.
5. All drivers shall drive defensively at all times.
6. All drivers shall follow the guidelines set forth in District Policy #8150 Maximum
Drive Time.
