INSTRUCTION <br />2540 Page 1 of 1 <br /> Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 <br />SELECTION AND ADOPTION OF CURRICULAR MATERIALS <br /> <br />The Bonneville Joint School District No. 93 Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility for all purchases of instructional material. The Board recognizes the right of students to <br />have access to many different types of books and the right of teachers and <br />administrators to select books and other materials in accordance with current trends in <br />education. Therefore, it is the policy of the Board of Trustees to require that <br />instructional material be chosen, based on its presenting points of view concerning the problems and issues of the times, and having an innate value and enlightenment for all <br />students in the District. <br /> <br /> <br />Guidelines <br /> <br />1. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for the review, selection <br />and recommendation of all books and supplementary materials to be used in the District schools. <br /> <br />a. In years when textbook adoptions are to be made, the Director of Curriculum and <br />Instruction will spearhead the selection of textbooks for that given year. <br /> b. A Committee composed of representatives of administration and professional <br />staff will review all materials and make recommendations to the Superintendent <br />and Board of Trustees. <br /> <br />c. All materials will be reviewed in light of readability. <br />d. Books will be selected and reviewed in light of their capacity to provide <br />appropriate connections of content material from grade-to-grade, and particularly <br />from school-to-school. <br /> e. Materials will be selected on a K-12 basis in a given year for use in the District's <br />schools. <br /> <br />2. Proper appropriation will be made in the budget in the adoption year for the <br />selection of materials. <br />3.
