Shackett, Superintendent Marjean McConnell, Deputy Superintendent Scott Woolstenhulme, Assistant Superintendent <br />Work Session of the Board of Trustees <br />Hillcrest High School Media Center <br />May 4, 2016 <br />11:30 AM <br />Hillcrest Hiah School Student Council Presentation -12:03 p.m. <br />Hillcrest High School Principal Doug McLaren expressed appreciation for the School Board and the District Office <br />Administrators for being at Hillcrest High School today. He also recognized the Student Council Advisor, Mrs. <br />Shauna Crabtree and her dedication to the students involved in the Student Council and their efforts to make all <br />Hillcrest students feel important. He told of the Student Council writing a personal note to each student in <br />February. Mr. McLaren also expressed his appreciation to the Student Body President, Nic Southwick; Nic leads <br />in a unique way, through his kind and genuine example. Nic has made the effort to know the students; in return <br />the staff and students have shown love and respect for each other. His vision for this year was to include <br />everyone, build lasting friendships, and create a fun school environment. He reminded <br />everyone of the HHS Student Council 2015-2016 Mission Statement, which all the Council member recited: <br />As representatives and friends of the individuals of Hillcrest High School, we will work to form an ultimate alliance <br />with each other. We will achieve this unity by valuing and serving everyone genuinely, and in the process, help <br />ourselves and others reach our true potential. We will make the most of our time to better create opportunities, <br />making everlasting memories. *omnia erant in haec propediem". Their presentation included a slide show and <br />description for all the various events the Student Council organized throughout the last year. These included the <br />2015 Fourth of July Parade, Student Council Retreat, Freshman Day. Senior Sunrise, Homecoming Week, <br />School Spirit Legion, New Student Lunch, Sadie's Dance, Civil War Football game, Adopt -a -Family Christmas <br />Fundraiser, Date Auction, Personalized Valentine Cards, Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, Leadership <br />Conference in Boise, Mr. Hillcrest, Brawley Ball Tournament, Talent Show, Prom, Elections, submitting a portfolio <br />to the state for Outstanding Student Council (OSC) award, LARPing (live action role paly) event, decorating <br />cookies with the Special Needs classes, 8th Grade Night, getting involved with the November 2015 Bond, Sports <br />Committee, Lunch Activities, Friday Jam, Senior Sunset, and Graduation! Nic introduced the new Student Body <br />President Jake Pickett, for the 2016-2017 school year. <br />Comments from the Board: <br />Trustee Greg Calder asked the students, "With what you know now, what would you wished you knew then?" <br />
